1. What is Cable Connection?
Cable Connection is the name of the week of conventions, conferences, meetings and events by the organizations supported by the cable telecommunications industry. Starting with Spring ’09, there are two weeks – one in the spring and one in the fall.
2. What organizations are participating?
- The Association of Cable Communicators (ACC)
- Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau (CAB)
- The Cable Center
- Cable Positive
- Cable Pioneers
- Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM)
- Cable Television Laboratories (CableLabs®)
- National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC)
- National Cable and Telecommunications Association (NCTA)
- Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE)
- The Walter Kaitz Foundation
- Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT)
3. Why consolidate the various cable industry events?
The realignment of major industry events under the Cable Connection will reduce travel costs for participants and reduce the amount of out-of-office travel throughout the year, providing greater efficiencies and fewer disruptions. Also, the realigned schedule will allow companies, organizations and participants to experience the many aspects of cable, build stronger relationships within and outside of the industry, and strengthen collaboration.
4. How will the cable industry events change under the Cable Connection umbrella?
The meetings and events of the participating associations and professional societies will continue to provide the benefits to their respective members and audiences. The new structure provides an opportunity to create a deeper, more diverse experience for the entire industry.
5. When and where do the 2009 Cable Connection weeks occur?
- Cable Connection – Spring will be held in Washington, DC on March 31 through April 7, 2009. View the schedule »
- Cable Connection – Fall will be held in Denver, CO on October 25 – October 30, 2009. View the schedule »
6. How will I find out more about each event within Cable Connection week?
Please bookmark this website. There is a link to each organization’s home page on this website and from there you can connect to all of the programs and events under their auspices.
7. How do I register for one meeting – or several meetings?
We are working to implement a seamless registration process on one website. General online registration for Cable Connection Spring will open the first week of November 2008. You will be able to register for any and all of the events scheduled for that week.
8. How do I secure housing for Cable Connection weeks?
The cable organizations have agreed that they would like their membership directed to hotels where they can be with other members from that organization. For example, if you are a WICT member and you click on registering for the WICT Leadership Conference from the WICT website, the hotels listed first are where WICT as an organization would like to have most of their members stay. You can select a room from those options – or you can book at any other available hotel within the Cable Connection block.
9. How will badging work? Will I have to deal with 2-3 badges if I choose to register for 2-3 events?
No, one badge will get you to all conventions, conferences and events for which you have registered.
10. Will I be able to attend an event for which I have not signed up?
No. Since all the conventions, conferences and events are revenue sources for the organizations, we have to maintain a strict policy that only legitimate registrants can attend those functions. Please note that there may be functions and options from other programs that will be open to attendees of another program. These options will be clearly detailed on the conference pages. If you have any questions, please call or email the organization for which you have the question.
Connect. Communicate. Collaborate.
